Lake Rathburn Fall Trip

We spent five to six hours traveling into each little cove of the Lake Rathburn area to see the beautiful fields and foliage. Of course, the camera doesn’t capture all of the color. You need close up photos to even get an idea of the brilliance of the leaves.

In the resort area, we noticed the cabins are heated with geothermal heat.  Solar panels and a windmill is used plus there was a house built at Iowa state University and transported to Washington DC for a demonstration on energy efficient housing before it was moved to the park. We weren’t able to go inside but got a phone number to call for a planned trip next summer to check it out.

We saw wild turkeys several times; a busy raccoon and I captured this photo of a butterfly.
